HIGHJACK! THE CARD GAME
HIGHJACK – QUICK LINKS
PLAYERS: 2-4 TOKERS “PLAYERS” (PER DECK)
Highjack can be played with up to 8 Tokers by combining 2 full Highjack decks together.
SETUP: EASY SETUP RULES
Deal 4 cards to each Toker (player).
All remaining cards are placed facedown in the “Take a Hit” pile (Draw Pile).
Play starts with Toker to Dealer’s left.
GAMEPLAY: DRAW 1/PLAY 1
Each Toker starts their turn by “taking a hit” (drawing 1 card) and then playing 1 of 3 card types:
Stash Box (Gold) – Played into your “Stash Box.” Duplicate Stash Box cards can be played on top of the matching card for additional points.
Action (Red) – Played into the “Ashtray” (Discard Pile) faceup. Follow the instruction on each card. When the action is for “Opponent,” the one playing the Action card may choose any Toker to perform the action.
Session (Green) – Played into the “Session” area. Toker must call “Session” when this card type is played.
SESSION: HOW TO PLAY A SESSION
A Session begins when a Toker holds a Session card facedown and calls “Session” out loud. All remaining Tokers then join the Session by holding their own Session card facedown. Any Toker who is out of Session cards must “take a hit” until they find one or until the cards are gone (in order of play).
The Toker who started the Session says “1, 2, 3,” and then everybody calls “Highjack” and flips their card faceup. The highest card wins the Session. Any Toker who neglects to call “Highjack” (or fails to draw a Session card) forfeits to the Session winner and must “spark it up!”
Winning Order (Lowest to Highest): 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, Highjack.
The winning Toker performs the “Win Action” listed on their Session card. They then place their winning card on top of any/all acquired Session cards before adding these cards to their “Session Pile.”
Stoner’s Quarrel: If 2 or more Tokers play the highest Session card, it is a “Stoner’s Quarrel.” Each quarreling Toker plays another Session card facedown and continues with a second Session (as above). Highest card takes all.
ROUNDS: WHEN DO THEY END?
Each round ends after all “Take a Hit” cards are drawn or when a Toker completes their Stash Box. A completed Stash Box includes all 4 Stash Box cards and at least 1 Session card.
Bonus: Complete your Stash Box and earn 50 bonus points for that round.
WINNING: END GAME RULES
One Hitter Quitter (Short Game) – Points are not counted. The first Toker to earn the bonus, wins the game.
Chronic Rules (Advanced Play) – The first Toker to 420 points wins (may take multiple rounds). In the case of a tie, “highest” score wins.
SCORING: CALCULATED PER ROUND
Points (5-20 per card) are found in the circle located on the face of each card.
All played Stash Box cards, collected Session cards, and Bonus points are added.
All card points remaining in your hand are subtracted from your round total.
0 is the lowest possible score for any round. (Negative scores are not allowed.)
Each round total is added to the next until there is a winner.
