Full vs Broad Spectrum CBD Oil: What are the Differences?

full spectrum

CBD products are hot right now. You may have seen them advertised online or in social media. Even celebrities are joining this popular trend and starting their own CBD businesses. While CBD is derived from marijuana plants, using CBD is not the same as using marijuana. Marijuana plants contain a hallucinogen called tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC. That’s the only ingredient in marijuana that is psychotropic and causes the user to get “high.” So if CBD isn’t used to getting high, why is it so popular?

Health Benefits of CBD Oil

Users and sellers of CBD oil, such as the oil sold on sites like Earthy Now, claim that CBD oil offers many health benefits. As it stands currently, enough studies have not been completed to substantiate all of the claims scientifically. Based on what studies have been done, CBD oil can help the following conditions.

·         Addiction. CBD was shown to help reduce drug-seeking behaviors by users of methamphetamine, cocaine, and other psycho-stimulant drugs

·         Nerve Pain. There is some evidence that CBD can help lessen chronic pain, such as that suffered by people diagnosed with cancer

·         Heart Health Risks. CBD has been shown to help high blood pressure

·         Seizures. CBD is being used in certain seizure medications but it is not yet clear what role the CBD is playing in actually stopping the seizures

As with anything that can help the human body, CBD can also cause side effects, including:

·         Anxiety

·         Changes in appetite

·         Changes in mood

·         Diarrhea

·         Dizziness

·         Drowsiness

·         Dry mouth

·         Nausea

·         Vomiting

Anyone who is interested in using CBD oil should be aware that it has not been fully tested in medical studies. It may affect each individual user differently.

Is CBD Oil Legal?

The short answer is yes and no. CBD oil is legal if it contains less than .3 percent of THC (tetrahydrocannabinol), but it still depends on individual state guidelines. In states where marijuana has been legalized, CBD oil is legal as well. Where marijuana is not legal, restrictions on CBD products still exist. The best answer is to check your state’s laws regarding marijuana and CBD products.

Should I use Full or Broad Spectrum CBD Oil?

The CBD in CBD oil stands for cannabinoids, which are extracted from the cannabis or marijuana plant. The difference between the two has to do with which compounds each one contains. Full Spectrum CBD oil contains several of the extracts found in cannabis plants, such as terpenes and other cannabinoids. It can also contain up to .3 percent THC. Broad spectrum CBD oil also contains the natural plant extracts but is usually either entirely free of THC or contains only trace amounts below the legal limit.

The choice of which CBD oil to use is really up to each individual user. If the THC content is concerning, then broad spectrum CBD oil would be the better choice.

People are using CBD oil in a variety of ways. They are adding it to drinks as an energy boost or using it as a sleep aid. It is also used commonly to relieve anxiety and promote relaxation. Even though it has generally been shown to be safe for the majority of users, it is always the best practice to consult a pharmacist or a medical professional before use, especially if you have any pre-existing medical conditions or are taking prescription medications.
