What Does Full Spectrum CBD Oil Mean?

full spectrum

2020 has been a rough year. As we step into the following year, things look a bit brighter, and the clouds are slowly dissipating. 2020 wasn’t that bad, as it led to the discovery of CBD oil for many people.

CBD oil has been a popular supplement for ages, but it was skyrocketed in 2020 – and that’s a good thing. CBD has quite a lot of health benefits for both you and your pets – and it’s made pushing through the turbulence that much easier.

But, CBD isn’t a one-trick pony. There are many things to know about CBD oil, and it all starts with the actual contents of the oil itself. In this article, we’ll talk a bit about full-spectrum CBD, define what it means, and compare it to the other content types out there.

What Kinds of CBD Oil Are There?

As stated above, CBD comes in different forms. Sure, tinctures, capsules, or straight oil are one thing, but the actual contents that make up the CBD oil dictate its properties. There are three different types of CBD oil-based on content: broad-spectrum, full-spectrum, and isolate.

Their extraction defines these types of CBD oil. While there are several popular extraction processes, it’s what gets taken out of the cannabis plant that matters in the final product. Some are refined heavily to remove any contaminants and leave as much CBD as possible, while others are more laid back when it comes to the oil content.

Below, we’ll talk a bit about each one of these, explain the active ingredients in them, as well as define how and what they’re used for.

Broad Spectrum

The broad spectrum contains CBD and a selection of other cannabinoids, excluding THC. THC is the main active ingredient in marijuana that causes intoxication, making you high.

Broad Spectrum CBD oil contains mostly CBD but includes cannabichromene (CBC), cannabinol (CBN), terpenes, and other things. There are hundreds of ingredients in cannabis, and all of them find their way into broad-spectrum CBD oil, aside from the ones that get you intoxicated.

Full Spectrum

Full-spectrum CBD oil is cannabis in oil form. It’s made with the intent to preserve as much of the original cannabis contents as possible, and this might include trace amounts of THC. Of course, this is a CBD oil, so CBD will be the dominating ingredient. Still, this type of oil contains every other component in some amount, including tetrahydrocannabinol and other intoxicating chemicals.

Isolate

Isolate is the purest possible form of CBD oil. It’s CBD oil with all of the other cannabis contaminants removed. This means that Isolate does not contain any of the other chemicals and ingredients found in cannabis – it includes just the CBD oil.

What Does Full Spectrum Contain

As stated above, Full Spectrum CBD contains everything that the cannabis plant it was derived from had, to an extent. This oil is mostly cannabidiol, but it contains THC as well. The amount of THC in full-spectrum CBD oil will vary wildly, and it does depend on the type, manufacturer, and intensity.

At most, a bottle of full-spectrum CBD oil can contain up to 0.3% of tetrahydrocannabinol, meaning that it’s more than possible to get intoxicated if consumed in excess.

Is Full Spectrum Better Than The Other Kinds?

Many people argue that full-spectrum CBD oil is the best kind on the market, as it’s the closest option to the cannabis plant. Cannabis has deep roots in traditional medicine worldwide, and it’s been legalized in many places recently due to its many medicinal and clinical benefits.

But, the full spectrum is not everyone’s cup of tea. Since the full range is the only kind of CBD oil containing THC, the intoxicating chemical found in marijuana is not for everyone. Many people are consuming CBD daily for its health benefits, not for the intoxicating potential.

If you’re looking for both, the full-spectrum is the right choice for you. While there are minimal studies that substantiate the superiority of full-spectrum CBD oil instead of the other kinds, many people swear by it.

Final Thoughts

Without a doubt, CBD oil is one of the most popular supplements of 2020, and the future’s looking bright for this decade. Whether you’re in it for the intoxicating THC properties or are just looking to get the full range of cannabis benefits – you should seriously consider giving full-spectrum CBD oil a shot.
