Whenever cannabidiol (CBD) is brought into the conversation, a lot of arguments about the best method of its consumption come around with it. Should you be taking it through tinctures, capsules or paste? This article will talk about what happens in each method of consumption and which one is the best for you.

It’s best to keep in mind that all of the listed methods of consuming are still just CBD oil and they shouldn’t be looked at as completely different things as they share all of the same effects with just a few minor differences that mostly affect preference rather than effect.

Here’s A Comparison Between The 3 Different Ways Of Consuming CBD Oil:

  • CBD Oil Tinctures

While it’s commonly referred to as just CBD oil, this method of consuming CBD has many pros. You ingest it through a liquid dropper that drops it to the bottom of your tongue, where you’re meant to keep it for around 20-30 seconds before swallowing. It’s said that it has faster effects because it infuses into your system faster if it’s taken in through your taste buds and salivary glands. You can also measure out your own portions, which makes it great for beginners to test out how much they need while starting out. Keep in mind that your taste buds will taste the often earthy flavor of the oil, which not a lot of people are too keen about, however, there’s a variety of flavors available to counteract this. You can also add some to your food as you eat.

  • CBD Oil Capsules

Unlike the tinctures, the capsules have no taste whatsoever as you swallow them whole, which means if you weren’t a fan of the grassy taste of the oil, you’ll want to opt for this option. While it takes more time for the effects to take place in comparison to the tincture, it saves you the time to measure out your portions yourself if you’re experienced with the product. The capsules are best taken directly after food, and the method for taking them is with water like any other pill.

  • CBD Paste

Often the weirdest and most uncommon of the bunch, CBD paste can serve a larger multitude of purposes that tinctures and capsules can’t. You can ingest it orally like the other options and you can also use it as an effective skincare product. Whether you have a bruise or you simply want healthier skin, you can rub the paste on the desired area to see both of those results. A common misconception is that CBD isn’t safe for children/pets, but that’s not the case at all as it has no hallucinogenic effects whatsoever, which means it’s safe to use for either children or pets.

One thing that all of these different methods have in common, is that it’s best to consume them directly after a fatty meal, as its 3-5 times more likely to have a stronger effect. None of them are necessarily better than the other, however, the differences can affect your personal experience with CBD, so pick the best fit for you!
